Get Bent-Prince Matchobelli

I got this cool old road bike last fall. The headbadge reads 'Bicycle Prince Deluxe.' Built it up. It rode funny. Had the fork straightened. Still rode funny.

Figured the frame was bent so I took it to the Garage Mahal and had Reed Von Benderstein hook it up to the FRS-1 (Boogie Down Productions.)

Reed is a superstar and probably the best mechanic (and wheel monkey) this side of well, shit, he's better than Jeebus! Thanks Reed!

Caroline Yang Tour de France Opening Party @ One On One Bicycle Studio 9-December

2006 Tour de France Photo Exhibit
In the Tour de France, the race leader is awarded the Yellow Jersey. The final rider is called the Red Lantern. During the 2006 Tour, massive doping scandals turned professional cycling upside down.
This July saw cycling's top heros evicted from the race and its new champion stricken by the scarlet stain.
It was a Tour of Jaune et Rouge.
Please come and share in Caroline Yang's visual documentation of this extraordinary Tour de France.

Still having fun....
Monday, October 16, 2006
We're having much more fun...

In other nooze, yesterday was the Boom Island CX Race. Perfect fall day, lots of racers, and even more Stupor Fans in the corner. Rock AND roll. Many a blurried, bloodshot eyes were hidden behind large sunglasses, regaling one another with the amount of scotch consumed the night before at the Coleman/Carpenter soiree. Jesse CreepyFriendly made an appearance from Madison, and kept everyone in check with a second place finish in the A race on his SS 29'er. Coming this weekend, we have a double header of doom. The Homie Fall Fest will be held Saturday, Oct. 21. Meet at Liquor Lyles in Uptown by 11:00 am. Be prepared for everything. Including riding some sweet singletrack, followed by some sweet home brue. Sunday, the race promoters from the Hub Cyclocross Race at Powderhorn Park are graciously starting at noon, to allow ample morning hangover time. This is another fine example of urban cyclocross, and I highly recommend that you tune in, turn on, and drop out with all your crazy bike ridin' friends. Racers and non-racers alike should be in for a treat. C-you there. [as of press time, no decision has been made on whether or not we'll be open next weekend. Call in advance.-thanks]

The All British Cycling Event and Gentleman's Tour

This "Cycle Jumble" should be on everyone's calendar, if not for it's own merits then because it is held at Barley John's Brewpub! As the flyer states, "Experience cycling before lycra or lawyers!" and be sure to check out the "Gravity Race and Pastry Joust." Oh, those cheeky Brits...

STOCKHOLM! 24 hours of AFTON! PAINKILLER!
Good Lord. Sweden is Utopia. When can I move? Anyway, until I sort my head, recover from Jet-lag, and recover from this weekend's 24 Hours of Afton, I'll leave you with this beauty of a quote from Tim Krabbe's book, "The Rider." "Shifting is kind of a painkiller, and therefore the same as giving up."
p.s. we got sweet nü BROWN Chrome CRC messenger bags in. Check it out.

Electric Prunes-Stockholm

I'll be long gone to Stockholm Tuesday (15-Aug) to Tuesday (22-Aug). No laptop this trip, so updates might be sporadic. But I've got a new camera, so will hopefully post some photogs upon my return. Kelly Mac, Kevin Bacon, B-Rose, and Eddie Gripgen will be holding it down at CRC. Drop in and say hello. In fact, drop in this Saturday, (19-Aug) and join in on the SOUND UNSEEN FREERIDE It's a bike crooze, starting from CRC at 4pm, with stops at all the local hotspots. Register for FREE BEER (no shit) at the above website.
Lastly, speaking of Stockholm, O.G. Surly Slug B-Lee Evans sends this bit:
From your friends at BOMP……
"ELECTRIC PRUNES - Stockholm 67 -finds the Electric Prunes at the height of the powers. Some ninnies have griped that the 'Prunes were nothing more than a psychedelic one-hit wonder, and a studio project at best. This performance burns the criticism to the ground. Over-amplified and fuzzed to the max, the 'Prunes here are explosive, noisy and wild. This recording proves that the Electric Prunes deserve to be ranked alongside the very best bands of their era."
