SNOW DAY
Sorry to Burns, Mark Emery, and anyone else who tried to get their fix this a.m. B-Rose called a Snow Day. Guess his Jeep couldn't make the 6-block pull. But I backed him up on this one. Hell, take a day off you junkies! But B-Rose will be there tomorrow, count on it. Me? I'll be at the Bicycle, Travel, & Fitness Expo" with Gene O. and Greg LeMond. I think Surly is serving beer....

SSWC 2007-Aviemore, Scotland, 2, September, 2007
Dr. Jon over in Scotland has just announced the date for Single Speed World Championship 2007: "set yer sails for aviemore scotland for 2nd sept 07
glasgow or edinburgh intl airports or internal flights to inverness or rail or road.
lets get ready to rumble..."
Well yer' fuckin' right, I'll be going. You should, too. Start making plans. Save some coin, sell a pair of RaceFace Turbines on Ebay or something. Maybe get rid of one of your nine single speeds, I don't know. Ray, do you have a passport?!?!?

Papa's Got a Brand New Sycip
I love Ebay. Scored this sweet 10th Anniversary (2002) Sycip Diesel last week.
It arrived on Monday. BRose is certainly jealous...
We've also got three nice used Surly frames in stock. An original blue 60cm Cross-Check. (sold). A Reynolds 631 green 56cm Cross-Check.(SOLD) A mint condition black 62cm Pacer.
Don't worry Ray, Brown is safely hibernating until you're ready to light smokey treats while taking action shots of the mrs. riding down the block...

Slow and Go
This is what I woke up to this morning. I knew it would be an interesting commute in from Bryn Mawr. Xtracycles handle like shit in all this snow. No traction over the rear wheel. But...
All hale the hard working Mpls Park Board workers who are out plowing the bike paths before sun-up.
Guess the plows are too wide to hit the bridges, however.
The city shines in the distance. I'd rather still be in bed. But then I wouldn't have had the pleasure of shovelling the walk in front of the shop before the Lunatic showed up.

Is it a cornucopia or a cavalcade?
It was a regular fruit stripe of color in the CRC bike rack today. Orange Salsa cross. Tequila Lime Green Surly 1x1. Smokey(treat) Blue Surly Long Haul Trucker. Red & White Saluki 650b.
A very nice red Saluki. Dig the Nitto racks holding Nigel Smythe bags.
The Lunatic logs some serious miles in his never-ending quest to stave off the "winter pelt." It is during this time of year that he craves "massive quantities." I guess he didn't mean massive quantities of smokey treats...
These just might be the sexiest fenders on the streets today. Damn right you better lock them up. Don't park this one on the porch in South Minneapolis...

Get Bent-Prince Matchobelli

I got this cool old road bike last fall. The headbadge reads 'Bicycle Prince Deluxe.' Built it up. It rode funny. Had the fork straightened. Still rode funny.

Figured the frame was bent so I took it to the Garage Mahal and had Reed Von Benderstein hook it up to the FRS-1 (Boogie Down Productions.)

Reed is a superstar and probably the best mechanic (and wheel monkey) this side of well, shit, he's better than Jeebus! Thanks Reed!

Haulin' Boxes
Just before Xmess, Gay Dave Evil needed a bike shipped to Portland. I said 'bet.' He sent the loot, I sent the box.
Now I'm back from Cancun. (did you know that 'Cancun' is Espanol for "Liver Damage?") Here's my view from the beachside bar. I was there for 6 days. I was on a first name basis with the bartenders after the first hour.

Son's Of Larry Racing Team
Lance Larson was the first kid in our group to get a P.K. Ripper. Rob Reister had a sweet Powerlite. I had a Rhyno III. We all raced for The Insurance Shack BMX team. This all has not alot to do with the photo, but that there is Lance, founder and owner of the ultra-prestigious L.L.R.P./Under The Bed Burrito Factory Team.

Kandy-Koated-Tangerine-Metal-Flake Streamline Baby

My man Terry Brashear strolled into the shop one day with this Schwinn Volare frameset. I'd never heard of it, but sure did like it's pointy chrome lugs and tangerine metal flake paint job. Seems these were the "Japanese Paramounts" and only made from 1977 - 1978. Terry wanted a sweet fixed gear, and he got one. Rare for a 70's era frame are the vertical dropouts. Of course, they were no match for some sweet White Industries ENO eccentric hubs...

Caroline Yang Tour de France Opening Party @ One On One Bicycle Studio 9-December
JAUNE+ROUGE2006 Tour de France Photo Exhibit
In the Tour de France, the race leader is awarded the Yellow Jersey. The final rider is called the Red Lantern. During the 2006 Tour, massive doping scandals turned professional cycling upside down.
This July saw cycling's top heros evicted from the race and its new champion stricken by the scarlet stain.
It was a Tour of Jaune et Rouge.
Please come and share in Caroline Yang's visual documentation of this extraordinary Tour de France.

Still having fun....

We're having much more fun...
The Q-laiders had another TT last week. It was pretty boss, and the locals don't know what to think when a ragtag bunch of cyclists are swarming off the sidewalk in staccato one minute bursts. The Heat-Meiser took the W again, with BrauerPower snagging second overall and first fixie. In other nooze, yesterday was the Boom Island CX Race. Perfect fall day, lots of racers, and even more Stupor Fans in the corner. Rock AND roll. Many a blurried, bloodshot eyes were hidden behind large sunglasses, regaling one another with the amount of scotch consumed the night before at the Coleman/Carpenter soiree. Jesse CreepyFriendly made an appearance from Madison, and kept everyone in check with a second place finish in the A race on his SS 29'er. Coming this weekend, we have a double header of doom. The Homie Fall Fest will be held Saturday, Oct. 21. Meet at Liquor Lyles in Uptown by 11:00 am. Be prepared for everything. Including riding some sweet singletrack, followed by some sweet home brue. Sunday, the race promoters from the Hub Cyclocross Race at Powderhorn Park are graciously starting at noon, to allow ample morning hangover time. This is another fine example of urban cyclocross, and I highly recommend that you tune in, turn on, and drop out with all your crazy bike ridin' friends. Racers and non-racers alike should be in for a treat. C-you there. [as of press time, no decision has been made on whether or not we'll be open next weekend. Call in advance.-thanks]
