'Tis the season of giving, and we'd like you to help us give hundreds of free bikes to kids this holiday season.

Come on down to the Midtown Bike Center anytime we’re open and fix up some bikes to give to kids in your community. We need to kick out about 200 more bikes by December 10th in order to meet our goal of 350 bikes to give away.

Our mission is to give a bike to every kid who needs one. Every kid needs a bike!

Hours: (anytime the Midtown Bike Center is open!)

MON-FRI 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM

SATURDAY 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

SUNDAY 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM

*Volunteer days run through Friday, December 10th*

We need three categories of staff:

1. Wrenches - someone who knows their way around fixing a bike. Brakes, chains, gears, shifters, and the likes.

2. Assistant Wrenches - check and replace tires and tubes, check pressures, final cleaning of bikes, etc.

3. Hands - wash bikes with power washer, move them from place to place, minor support (Please Bring Towels).

The Minnesota State CX race was this weekend. My bum foot prevented me from racing. It snowed. A lot.

Went to the sweet, new Kickstand Press opening party. Hondo played, and there were some rad prints on display.

I've had my Mission Workshop Vandal backpack for over a year now, and it's still cold clockin' for mega-dollars. Later, after this photo was taken, I would nearly break my foot!

2 weeks ago I hauled a Costco load on my Big Dummy in a rain storm. The looks I got in that place were hilarious. I felt downright un-American next to all the big trucks, and big Americans....

But the Foamy Autumn Aufroad Classic is on for this Saturday, Oct. 30th at High noon.

This event is meant to celebrate the death of the Homie and the birth of the Foamy. The Foamy is a offroad singlespeed rally in the woods. Be prepared to ride or don’t show up. You have been warned.

Meeting location will be announced later this week and it won’t be a bar.

Bikes with gears will be met with sneers. Cable cutters will be on site.

This event is about riding, not leaning your bike against a tree and standing around.

It is a mass start lap event. The number of laps is up to you. Safety breaks between laps are strongly recommended.

There will be a prize for the biggest Whiner, not the Weiner!

Fabulously shitting prizes will be awarded to other categories such as best crash, safest rider, and most unsafe costume etc.

Tour De Biz Markie

Had a great trip back to BURLEIGH COUNTY to ride some of the fun singletrack and surrounding trails in Bismarck/Mandan last weekend. My traveling partner was Cheater Akimoto of Team Saab Flat Tire Blooze. During our travels we were astonished by the ever-largering (sic) of the American Tricep. But I digress. Here are some photos.

First up, pal Clay had his Steamroller stolen recently. This photo was obviously from a few months ago, but keep your eyes peeled if you're in Minneapolis. God Damn, I hate bike thieves. edit: This just in from Clay himself: "man, you're not going to believe this. Just about an hour ago a guy calls me up saying he's watching some young delinquent riding my bike in DT st. paul, about a mile from where i work. I grab two of my coworkers and we tear down there, still on the phone with the dude who spotted it. We jump out of the car, run around the corner, and sure as shit, there it is, surrounded by 5 kids who look to be in about the 9th grade. I tore it out from underneath one of them, gave them a few kind words, and rode off. they didn't put up any fight. its a little beat up, but still 99% there.

Also, Race #1 of the MN MOUNTAIN BIKE SERIES, The Freewheel Frolic takes place on Saturday at Salem Hills Park, Inver Grove Heights.

The Midtown Greenway Challenge is fast approaching on June 5. Win a trip to France while you're at it.

Lastly, the boys in Burleigh County are putting together a tour of the finest singletrack in the Missouri River valley. It's what you would call my stomping grounds as a youth, and I'll be making every effort to attend, if for no other reason than to put Fitzgerald in the dirt...
